After a 8 1/2 hour flight, we finally made it to Germany. Our flight left Atlanta at 540 PM Friday evening, and I thought that after taking a couple sleeping pills, both Tammy and I would sleep on the flight. WRONG! I got about 30 minutes of sleep and Tammy not much more than that. We landed in Frankfurt at 830 AM, which was 230 AM Atlanta time. Made it through customs with no problem and met up with Manuel and Christina. When we got to their car I woke up but Tammy was slowly fading. About half way to Ansbach Tammy was out. The drive from Frankfurt to Bergoberbach (where we are staying which is Manuel's parents house) was about 2 hours.
We were greeted with a fantastic welcome...
along with huge hugs from Erika, Gerhart, Marcus and Steffani. As Tammy says, this family is very charming!
She and I took little catnaps through the afternoon, showed pictures of our house, before and after, then had a BBQ for dinner. A German BBQ is more like grilling out in America. We had pork, chicken, turkey, sausages, and pork belly. Along with that was a cucumber salad, fresh lettuce salad (grown in his garden), grilled zuchinni, baked cheese and bread.
Afterwards we took a walk around the house, stopping to see the land the Marcus and Steffani, and also Micheal will be building on which is very nearly across the street from Manuel's folks house.
We came back, had some strawberry short cake, then MIchael came by (Manuel's brother who is a policeman in Ansbach). We viewed a few more pictures, but then I was starting to zone out so Tammy and I both went to bed.
The weather here is unusually warm, in the 80s, but the forecast is showing cooler temps next week.
